Lionite Mele Ltd ~ Company History
Lionite Mele is "Europe's foremost name in Jewellery Cases", from our base in Cardiff, we supply the UK markets as well as export to some thirty countries around the world, this is done via a team of sales agents and a network of Lionite Mele Distributors.
We have always prided ourselves on our family values and our friendly relationship with our customers, we actually enjoy what we do and believe this reflects in the way we treat our customers, agents and suppliers alike.
In 1968 Mele Manufacturing from Utica, New York purchased Lionite Specialties who had been manufacturing Jewel Cases for many years at Sanatorium Road, Cardiff and subsequently linked the two names together and Lionite Mele was born.
At this time Michael Valentine was seconded from the Mele Corporation in the States to run the business which he did until the early eighties, when manufacturing ceased in Cardiff and a large portion of the factory was sold leaving Lionite Mele to operate from a 50,000 sq ft site where it remains to this day.
Michael Valentine returned to America to run Mele Manufacturing and Michael Probert took over the running of the company until his retirement in 2005 when the current managment team took over.
